Next week’s Coronation Street will see Eileen (played by Sue Cleaver) battle with the horrific aftermath of Phelan’s (Connor McIntyre) crimes being uncovered.
As the police investigate the bodies found on the Mill site, they link the cab office worker to the murders on the ITV soap.
Spoiler pictures show Eileen being cuffed by officers as Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard) stands by her side trying to comfort her.
The mother-of-two is informed she could be held accountable for assisting an offender.
Although, little do the authorities know that she’s been absolutely clueless for months.
Could Eileen be banged up for Phelan’s crimes if she can’t prove her innocence?
Actress Sue Cleaver has already hinted that it definitely won’t be smooth sailing for Eileen from now on.
“She stood by this monster all this time and believed him over everyone and now she’s going to have to go home and face the music,” the soap star said in a behind-the-scenes video.
“And what that means for her, I don’t know. I don’t know how everybody is going to respond to her and how she’s going to move on from this period in her life.
“It’s going to be difficult, I would imagine.”
Tonight’s instalment saw Phelan finally get his comeuppance after Eileen let him fall to his death, or so it seemed.
Although it looked as though Phelan is gone for good, that may not actually be the case.
Fans aren’t convinced that the soap villain is actually dead and took to Twitter to predict he would return in a terrifying twist.
One viewer shared: “I get the feeling that Pat’s body wouldn’t be found at sea and in typical soap style he will return alive – probably while they’re scoffing the Christmas turkey #Corrie #christmasspecial.”
Another fan wrote: “HE’S NOT DEAD!!! Unless they show a body then this isn’t over.”
“Pat Phelan better not rock up in 3 months alive.. #Corrie,” a third tweeted.
A fourth fan chimed in: “I bet they don’t find Phelan’s body…leaves the door open for him to come back! My money is on a Halloween return #Corrie.”
Sue also went on to joke about the scenes in the video and how much she enjoyed pushing the villain into the freezing water below.
“Pushing him [Phelan] over the edge, I mean who couldn’t enjoy that really? I mean it’s about time somebody did to him didn’t they,” she laughed.
“He’s [Connor McIntyre] very lucky there was a stunt man who went in the water and not him.
“I think that should’ve been written into his contract.”
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
